An American expatriate in Australia contrasted her kind Australian manager to a harsh supervisor in the US who texted her, calling her “useless and a waste of time.”

In a video uploaded to TikTok last week, the former volleyball star gushed over her Australian employer, who sent kind greetings to her and the team on RUOK Day.

The nicest thing I have ever heard is that Australia has a national holiday to check in on one another and see whether everyone is doing well, she added.

Hey guys, happy RUOK day, and if you ever need anything, I’m always here to speak. My employer texted us tonight.

It was quite lovely and made me think of something my American employer once said to me. I then informed him that someone else would be taking over for me.

You have become worthless and a waste of time, therefore don’t come in tomorrow, the boss texted back.

The idea that an employer would send such a negative text message startled Australians.

‘Deadset? Your previous employer send you that? “, a commentator posed.

I wish I were lying, she said in response.

She received considerable criticism for her “I should’ve sued” title and for calling the day a “national holiday.”

One person responded, “Not holiday, simply a national acknowledgment day,” while another person added, “Holiday.” HOLIDAY. I hope, doll.

Every second Thursday in September since 2009, Australia has observed RUOK Day as a national holiday.

It is operated by a nonprofit organisation dedicated to preventing suicide and uses the question “Are you OK?

One joker commented on the social media post, “It’s more like “say you’re OK when you’re not actually fine” day.”

One more person said, “It creates one day a year when people inquire if you’re fine, they don’t really want to know, and they don’t ask any other day.”

“No, today is terrible. It is not enough to assist for one day. I’m over receiving the RUOK! ‘ one person wrote.

It’s an HR issue, and in my job, it comes with free lunch. After a free meal, I’m OK,” one person said.
