The next album by Yungblud is synth-heavy.
The “Funeral” rocker is already at work on his fourth album, the follow-up to his self-titled release from last week, and it is influenced by synth pioneers Joy Division and post-punk titans The Smiths.
Yungblud, whose real name is Dom Harrison, told the Daily Star newspaper’s WIRED column, “I’ve already begun working on album four, which has a lot more synths, it’s very Joy Division with a little of The Smiths, definitely more in that direction.
“That’s where I’m going since album number four aspires to headline festivals throughout the globe.”
The current album by the 25-year-old musician is highly personal, hence the title “YUNGBLUD.”
“In the past, my music has been an unvarnished representation of the f****** world and what I believe about the world, even if I later disagree with myself,” he continued.
“It is always about that individual’s background, sexuality, politics, Brexit, etc.
This album is heavily focused on the ‘I’. “I believe I’m going insane.” “I was dancing during the funeral.”
And it gives people the ability to speak such words.
The “Fleabag” actor, who will perform at three renowned Los Angeles venues in one night for “YUNGBLUD: Occupy The Strip” on September 8, recently stated that he did not wish to be “defined” while comparing himself to the late, great David Bowie and Lady Gaga.
He stated, “I’ve heard that Yungblud is saving rock music, is a punk, and is a gay legend.
“Well, I’m not. I’m simply f****** me. As with David Bowie and Lady Gaga, I cannot be categorized. Yungblud is about liberation, and after completing this album, I am truly free.”
