Pauley Perrette grateful to be alive after’massive stroke’

A year ago, Pauley Perrette suffered a “massive stroke.”

A year after experiencing a serious medical emergency, the former “NCIS” actress feels “so grateful” to be “still here.” She portrayed Abby Sciuto for 15 seasons before departing the show in 2018.

In a tweet, she stated, “It’s September 2nd. I experienced a major stroke a year ago. Prior to then, I had lost so many cherished family members and friends, my father, and then my cousin Wayne.

“Yet I am still a survivor despite the horrible life I’ve had so far, and I am still so grateful, so full of faith, and I am STILL HERE!”

The 53-year-old actress wondered in an accompanying video, “How many times have I cheated death?”

She then recalled being hospitalized in 2014 due to a severe allergic reaction to her character’s hair colour and being attacked by a homeless guy the following year, among other unpleasant situations.

She responded, “Yes, I’m still here. How many times do I cheat death? As if I nearly perished from a hair dye allergy. I have dietary allergies and am a survivor of domestic violence and rape.

“I was attacked by a psychotic homeless person and nearly killed, yet I’m still alive. I’m quite appreciative, especially for all of my rescue pets over there. And I’m here, I’m still here, I feel okay.”

Pauley retired from acting in 2020 after just one season of the CBS sitcom “Broke,” and she told fans she had “gone through a lot” and would always be appreciative for the good things in her life.

“Been through a great deal over the past two years. Things that are more difficult than suffering a stroke. But I’m still here. And I’m still grateful. …those of you who are my pals, I appreciate you. Thank you very much. God bless you everyone. I’m still here.”
