Mary Jean “Lily” Tomlin was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 1, 1939. She is the daughter of homemaker and nurse’s aide Lillie Mae (née Ford; 1914-2005) and manufacturing worker Guy Tomlin (1913-1970). Richard Tomlin is her brother.
