The environmental activists who are a part of Extinction Rebellion carried out the most recent action just now. They attached themselves to the Speaker’s Chair inside the House of Commons by means of superglue.

The five individuals participated in the demonstration while carrying signs that said, “Let the people decide,” “Citizens assembly now,” and “We are in crisis.” This cannot be the way that we go forward.

Parliament will be out of session until the following Monday, when either Rishi Sunak or Liz Truss will be officially sworn in as the next prime minister. Until then, the legislature will be on summer recess.

To be continued.
