The national cabinet met on Wednesday and decided that, beginning September 9, isolation periods for Covid patients with no symptoms will be shortened.
There are a few notable exceptions.
Patients with symptoms have been instructed to remain at home, and personnel in “high risk” areas such as elderly, disability, and home care will be required to remain at home for a full week.
Paid pandemic leave payments will continue for five days, and masks will no longer be required on domestic flights as of the same day.
We want people to remain at home. We want individuals to behave appropriately,’ stated Mr. Albanese.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese (seen at the Press Club on Wednesday) stated that the new Covid regulations would go into force on September 9th.
The prime minister stated that he and the state and territory leaders had determined that the modifications were a “proportionate response at this juncture in the pandemic.”
There are no mandated standards for influenza or a variety of other ailments, he explained.
We want to ensure that the government responds to the altered conditions and that Covid will be around for an extended length of time.
Premier of New South Wales Dominic Perrottet encouraged his state counterparts on Wednesday to consider lowering the isolation period before to the cabinet meeting.
Mr. Perrottet stated that Australia’s Covid regulations required “national cohesion.”

The prime minister urged a mental shift from disregarding symptoms and “soldiering on” to accepting responsibility and staying home when ill.
Mr. Perrottet told the Sydney Morning Herald, “We need to move away from a’soldier on’ mentality when you are unwell to a situation where you respect others and recognize that when you are sick, you stay at home.”
A five-day isolation period was addressed at the last cabinet meeting, but Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly did not give his approval.
More to come
NEW RULES FOR COVID ISOLATION
– If you test positive for Covid and have no symptoms after five days, you may leave isolation.
– Individuals who work in sensitive situations, such as elderly and disability care, must nevertheless refrain from work for seven days.
If you are still exhibiting symptoms after five days, you must be isolated for a further two days.
– Masks are no longer needed on Australian domestic flights
This becomes effective on September 9
‘Clearly, we want people to stay home if they have symptoms,’ said Anthony Albanese.
We desire that everyone act appropriately. Seven days of isolation will remain for personnel in high-risk environments, such as senior care, disability care, and home care.
