On Friday, President Joe Biden paid respect to the 13 American service members who lost their lives when a suicide bomber detonated explosives containing ball bearings amid the commotion at the airport in Kabul during the final days of the evacuation.
The 13 precious souls were taken from their families, friends, and comrades in arms far too soon while serving our country, he said. “Our nation will forever grieve their sacrifice and respect the memories of those 13 precious souls,” he said.
But Biden has frequently been questioned about how well the disengagement operation was carried out.
The Taliban’s fighters overran the capital on August 15 of last year, and the world watched in horror as desperate Afghans tried to flee by jumping out of U.S. jets.
The 13 families who lost loved ones were outraged by the Biden administration’s repeated claims that the mission was successful because it brought more than 120,000 people to safety.
