Sitting on her owner’s lap, a pregnant cat made the decision to give birth to her brood of kittens.
After visiting a friend, Ellen Fransen, 18, from Andijk, the Netherlands, returned home to find her three-year-old cat Asrael in the early stages of labour.
Before electing to move and find comfort on owner Ellen’s lap for the duration of the delivery, Asrael had previously given birth to one kitten.
When Asrael the cat (shown above) gave birth on her owner Ellen’s lap, Ellen decided to record the event and post it to the social media platform TikTok, where it has received over 4.9 million views.

All five kittens were delivered after two anxious hours; they are all doing well and are still with their mother Asrael.
Ellen remarked:
It’s an honour,’ Ellen said, that Asrael chose to give birth on her lap.
When Ellen attempted to shift Asrael onto some towels after becoming uneasy about the idea of her cat giving birth on her lap, Asrael would scream at her until she was let back onto Ellen’s lap.
All five kittens were delivered after two anxious hours; they are all doing well and are still with their mother Asrael.
Before releasing the special event on TikTok, Ellen made the decision to record it. As of right now, the video has received over 4.9 million views.
The majority of responses have been good, but others have been negative and said that they don’t care whether it’s genuine or nasty. I consider it an honour!
