Health experts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are looking into what is thought to be an Ebola case in the country’s eastern area, according to the World Health Organization.

In the city of Beni, which was one of the epicentres of the Ebola outbreak that occurred between 2018 and 2020 and claimed the lives of nearly 2,300 people, a woman who was 46 years old died away on Monday.

The lady was first treated for a number of diseases, according to a statement from the World Health Organization (WHO), but she later developed symptoms that were consistent with Ebola.

The Congo’s lush rainforests provide a perfect reservoir for the virus, which naturally stores itself there and produces fever, body aches, and diarrhoea.

There have been a total of 14 outbreaks reported throughout the country since 1976. According to reports, the most recent pandemic in northeastern Congo, which resulted in the deaths of five people, occurred more than a month ago.
