3 shot near Chicago’s Six Flags Great America

Sunday evening in suburban Chicago, a gunshot outside Six Flags Great America wounded three individuals.

Six Flags said in a statement that shots were fired from a car in the park’s parking area just before 8 p.m. local time.

Six Flags said that two passengers were sent to a hospital for assessment and a third refused treatment at the scene. Not confirmed were their ailments.

The event caused commotion and uncertainty, with social media footage depicting parkgoers rushing to take cover or hide. Multiple authorities, including the Illinois State Police, responded.

A source informed CBS Chicago that there had been no arrests.

Six Flags said that the park was closed early, with guests and employees being taken out by cops.

Six Flags Great America is situated in Gurnee, a Chicago metropolitan area municipality. The Gurnee Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident.
