Man dies after an altercation on Platform Eight of Reading station in Berkshire

After an incident that resulted in a train passenger dying on the platform, a man has been detained on suspicion of murder.

The injured guy, who eventually passed away, was discovered by British Transport Police (BTP) officers who were summoned to the scene on Platform Eight at Reading station in Berkshire at 11:43pm on Saturday.

At the scene, a second guy was detained on murder suspicion.

He’s being detained right now.

The two males reportedly argued before the assault on the platform while riding the train.

To put together what occurred, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley has made an appeal for witnesses.

“This is a senseless act of violence that has tragically cost a man his life,” he declared.

‘Officers were quickly able to make an arrest at the scene and a man remains in custody this morning.

‘While we are still in the very early stages of our investigation, we believe the men had an altercation on board a train before the victim was assaulted on Platform 8.

‘Witnesses will be crucial in helping us piece together exactly what happened last night, and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the moments before it to contact us as soon as possible.’
