KFC just opened its first high-tech African location at the Howard Centre in Pinelands, Cape Town, with the goal of providing customers with a quicker, more seamless experience.

A dual-lane drive-through with digital menu boards is available at the “ultra-modern” restaurant.

KFC is the leader in Mzansi’s rapidly expanding food industry, which had a surge during Covid-19 days, notably the fast-food takeaway and delivery sector, with over 1000 locations across the country.

The strategy to opening new restaurants needs to change to reflect a new era of customer experience that is defining the food industry, according to Thuthuka Nxumalo, chief operations officer for KFC Africa.

Nxumalo said, “The sum of this design puts the power of ordering and food fulfilment in the hands of the customer as well as gives employees an opportunity to focus on the back of house and getting food out quicker – this culminates in a superior customer experience”.
