The application is for two changes to the quay’s design, which were permitted by the Able Marine Energy Park Development Consent Order 2014, and one change to a footpath diversion so that it circumnavigates a railway instead of crossing it.

Able Humber Ports Limited submitted the proposal to the Planning Inspectorate on June 25, 2021, for review.

On May 16, 2022, a recommendation was presented to the Secretary of State following an examination during which the public, Statutory Consultees, and Interested Parties had the chance to respond to the Examining Body.

This is the first significant change application that The Planning Inspectorate has looked at within the legal time-frames.

Sarah Richards, the chief executive of the Planning Inspectorate, said:

Since the Planning Act of 2008 was implemented, “The Planning Inspectorate has investigated more than 100 nationally significant infrastructure projects, ensuring that local communities have had the chance to be involved in the evaluation of projects that may affect them.

Before recommending a course of action, the Examining Body carefully listened to local opinions and took the evidence amassed during the Examination into account.

On the project pages of the National Infrastructure Planning website, the decision, the suggestion given to the Secretary of State by the Examining Body, and the information analysed by the Examining Body in reaching its conclusion are all publicly available.
