Minister Sylvestre Radegonde was visited by Captain Manmeet Singh Kurana, Commanding Officer of the INS Kolkata, today at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.
This Wednesday, June 29, 2022, Captain Khurana and his crew will take part in the National Parade.
Captain Khurana thanked the Minister for inviting him to take part in the parade marking this year’s national day during the meeting.
They stated that India has always been honored to participate in the parade since Seychelles gained independence in 1976.
The ceremonial band of the Indian Navy will be one of the 30 members of the Indian platoon.
The crew of the INS Kolkata will participate in a number of events while in Port Victoria, including yoga sessions, blood donations, and a performance by the Navy band.
Following the National Day ceremony, the INS Kolkata will also participate in a joint EEZ surveillance exercise with the Seychelles Coast Guard and Air Force.
Captain Khurana was praised by Minister Radegonde for India’s ongoing assistance in battling piracy and other illicit marine operations. Over the years, India has been a steadfast and trustworthy friend.
The Minister said, “We value all the assistance from India, particularly in the military sphere.
They also noted the numerous forms of military cooperation that exist between the two nations.
Additionally present were the First Secretary, Ms. Wendy Isnard, Director General for Bilateral Affairs, Ms. Lindy Ernesta, and Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave.
Captain Khurana was accompanied by Mr. Vikram Grewal, Head of Chancery at the Indian High Commission.
