Man shot and murdered in an encampment in the Chinatown-International District

A man was shot and murdered in an encampment in the Chinatown-International District early on Friday. Detectives are looking into the incident.

Police were called to the area of South Lane Street and 12th Avenue South at 12:04 a.m. after hearing claims that a man had been shot.

When police arrived, they discovered a 31-year-old male who had been fatally shot. The individual was pronounced dead by the responding Seattle Fire Department medics.

Police officers made the scene secure and started looking for witnesses.

Responding to the scene, members of the SPD’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed it for evidence.

Homicide detectives responded as well and will oversee the ongoing inquiry.
