Mhlasini, KZN: Woman Delivers Baby By the Side of the Road

While waiting four hours for medical attention, a 26-year-old mother gave birth to a healthy baby on the side of the road.

At 14:59, when a woman gave birth to a girl on the side of the road, residents of Mhlasini, KZN, phoned Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) to request immediate aid for the woman. RUSA medics were sent to the specified location and checked the mother and infant when they got there.

The female stated that she went into labour at 11:00 and contacted the Provincial Ambulance Service. After waiting four hours she delivered the child on her own.

The mother and child were transported by ambulance to hospital in a stable condition.
