Health Minister, Joe Phaahla, on Wednesday repealed the several COVID-19 regulations

Joe Phaahla, the health minister, revoked the COVID-19 rules governing face mask use, public meetings, and foreigners entering the nation on Wednesday.

On May 4, the Minister issued the Regulations Relating to the Surveillance and Control of Notifiable Medical Conditions, which contained the regulations.

The limitations would be relaxed gradually, according to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s April national address.

Face mask use in any indoor public area or while riding public transportation in order to stop the spread of COVID-19 has been abolished as a result of the regulations’ publication in the official gazette.

There will be no upper restriction on the number of persons who can congregate in public areas during gatherings.

The rules stated that only 50% of the venue’s capacity may be occupied, and that each participant had to be immunized against COVID-19 and present a current vaccination certificate.

They could also present a legitimate certificate of a COVID-19 test result that was negative and received no later than 72 hours before to the event.

The attendance at the indoor gathering had to be restricted to 1000 individuals or 50% of the capacity, whichever was less, in cases where sub-regulation (3) was not followed.

A maximum of 50% of the venue’s capacity may be used for any outdoor gathering.

All attendees must have received a COVID-19 immunization and present a current vaccination certificate in order for this to be possible. If not, they might present a legitimate certificate of a COVID-19 test result that was negative and was received no later than 72 hours before the gathering.

Any person entering the country has to be immunized against COVID-19 and present a valid vaccination certificate, according to the regulations on entry restrictions.

A valid certificate of a COVID-19 PCR test result that was negative and was completed no more than 72 hours prior to the departure date was required instead for this group of people.
