Korean Air Flight Encountering Severe Turbulence Injures Fourteen Passengers and Crew Members During Flight from Incheon to Ulaanbaatar Over China’s Tianjin Airport

A recent Korean Air flight from Incheon to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, encountered a terrifying episode of turbulence that left fourteen people injured.

The flight, which was en route to Mongolia’s capital, experienced severe shaking that resulted in chaos on board.

On August 4th, the Korean Air flight, carrying 281 passengers, hit intense turbulence while cruising at 34,100 feet near Tianjin, China.

The turbulence lasted about 15 seconds but was severe enough to throw passengers and crew members around.

According to reports, 10 passengers and four flight attendants suffered injuries, mainly back and neck pain. One passenger described the scene: “The plane dropped suddenly, and people were screaming. Meals went flying everywhere; it was a mess.”

Food and Injuries

Photos from the incident show food trays scattered across the aisle, clearly tossed by the sudden movement of the plane. Another witness recounted how those not wearing seatbelts were thrown into the air, with one person hitting the ceiling and then falling into the aisle.

A medical team was on standby at Ulaanbaatar Airport to assist the injured passengers upon arrival.

Previous Incidents

This incident follows a similar event in May, when a flight from London to Singapore experienced extreme turbulence over Myanmar. The Boeing 777 dropped from 37,000 feet to 31,000 feet within five minutes, leading to one death and several injuries. Passengers reported being caught off guard and thrown into the ceiling due to the abrupt descent.

Just last month, another flight from Madrid to Montevideo suffered from severe turbulence, resulting in 30 injuries, including head, face, and spinal injuries.
