New mainline Fire Emblem game might be launched any time soon

According to the newest rumors, a new Fire Emblem game might be launched at any time, but why it’s being kept back is unknown.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, a Dynasty Warriors-style game, will be released at the end of this month, but it’s been three years since Fire Emblem, Three Houses, the last mainline entry in the tactical role-playing franchise.

Fire Emblem games are inexpensive to develop and sell well, so there was always going to be another one, but according to the most recent claim from a trusted insider, the next entry has been finished for almost a year and just needs a release date.

The actual cause for the game’s demise is unknown, however it was supposedly designed as a 30th anniversary release before being repurposed as a regular sequel.

Three Houses was infamously low-tech, so a sequel wouldn’t take long, but things were hurried up even more by being a cooperation between series creator Intelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo, and Gust.

As a result, the graphics are said to be an “improvement” over Three Houses, which isn’t really saying much.

Insider Emily Rogers, writing on the Famiboards forum, has long been a dependable source for upcoming Nintendo games, but she doesn’t explain why the game has been put on hold for so long.

Instead, she simply mentions the main character’s “strange red and blue hair” and a mother who is (literally) a dragon.

There’s also a new ‘Emblems’ gimmick in the game that allows you to summon Fire Emblem heroes from the past, though it’s unclear what time period the new game is set in.

According to rumors, Nintendo has been sitting on a finished remake of Metroid Prime Trilogy for some time, which is understandable given that the delay of Metroid Prime 4 would have disrupted the original plans for its release.

It’s unclear why a new Fire Emblem game is being delayed, but if there’s a new Nintendo Direct this month, we’ll find out.
