Magesi FC Coach Clinton Larsen Motivates New Signings to Earn Respect in South African Top Flight

As the excitement builds for the new season, Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen is urging his team to brace themselves for the challenges ahead in the Betway Premiership.

With the team making its debut in the top flight of South African football, Larsen is determined to see his players fight fiercely for their place in the league.

Magesi FC has been busy in the transfer market, adding 13 new players to their squad for the upcoming season.

Among the new signings are notable names like Gift Motupa, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Lebogang Mabotja, Delano Abrahams, and Wonderboy Makhubu.

The club will kick off their campaign with a Limpopo derby against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 14 September.

A Warning to the Newcomers

Coach Larsen is clear about his expectations.

He wants his players to avoid the fate of Cape Town Spurs, who were relegated after just one season in the Premiership.

“The Betway Premiership is a beast,” Larsen warned. “If you’re not prepared, it will chew you up and spit you out.”

He emphasized that his team needs to come out fighting. “We are not Cape Town Spurs. We’re here to earn our respect—first from our opponents and then from the South African football public.

To achieve that, we need to put in the hard work every week, and I believe this team has what it takes.”

New Home for Magesi FC

In a recent update, it was announced that Magesi FC will play some of their home games at Seshego Stadium.

The revamped Seshego Stadium, along with the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, will serve as the team’s home venues for the season.

The Polokwane Municipality has supported this decision, stating, “The council has approved Magesi Football Club’s request to partner with the municipality for hosting their home games in Polokwane for the 2024/25 season.”

With their promotion from the NFD and a new venue arrangement, Magesi FC is set for an exciting season in the PSL elite league.
