President Kenyatta roots for enhanced transport connectivity to boost Kenya, Barbados ties

President Uhuru Kenyatta has emphasized the importance of improving transit connections between Kenya and Barbados in order to strengthen the two nations’ mutually beneficial ties.

The President stated that the two countries had tremendous potential that might be realized for the benefit of their inhabitants if transportation barriers to trade and interpersonal interactions could be overcome.

Lack of direct flights to and from the Caribbean island is one of the transportation challenges.

President Kenyatta was speaking today at State House in Nairobi during a meeting with Barbadian President Sandra Mason, who made him a courtesy call.

The first President of the new Republic of Barbados, the Barbadian leader is on her first official visit to Kenya.

Barbados, a former British colony in the Caribbean, became a republic on November 30th of last year.

President Kenyatta noted that more people-to-people connection through enhanced transportation links will accelerate economic growth and provide jobs for the two countries’ youth, noting that Kenya is a large agricultural producer and Barbados is a powerful financial hub.

President Mason, for her part, praised Kenya and Barbados’ friendly and cordial relations, which are based on mutual respect and shared historical links.

President Kenyatta’s reign has been refreshing to the Caribbean area, according to the Barbadian President.

“Your presidency has given us a breath of fresh air. You are the first President from outside the Caribbean Community to engage and welcome us (CARICOM). President Mason remarked, “We are grateful to you for taking that daring action that has brought us together.”

President Kenyatta and President Mason also addressed collaboration in green energy and financial institution integration as areas where the two nations’ partnership might be strengthened.

President Kenyatta met separately with former Seychelles President Danny Faure and former Sudan Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok at State House in Nairobi earlier today.

Their discussions focused on promoting intra-Africa trade to strengthen the region’s economic resilience and investor confidence.

Former President Faure and former Prime Minister Hamdok were present at the ceremonial opening of the 20-story Trade and Development Bank tower in Kilimani, Nairobi County, which was presided over by President Kenyatta.
