Taskforce Gets Suspension in Edo for environmental issues

The Edo State Taskforce on Development Control and Environmental Issues, which is housed in the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability, has been suspended by the state government.

According to a statement by Secretary to the State Administration, Osarodion Ogie Esq., the government will establish a new sanitation taskforce in the near future to enforce environmental sanitation laws.

“Members of the public are advised by this notification to refrain from dealing with the defunct taskforce on questions of development control and to report anyone discovered posing as a member of the taskforce to the relevant security services,” he said.

“The Ministry of Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development is primarily empowered to regulate development control, including approvals of building plans and other such permits.

The government will sustain its campaign – Operation Plan Edo (OPE), in pursuit of the realization of the Edo Regional Development Plan and Benin City Master Plan.”
