This morning, the Prime Minister spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
They discussed Ukraine’s ongoing fight against Russian aggression in the Donetsk and Luhansk areas in depth.
President Zelenskyy gave an update on his recent trip to the eastern frontlines, praising the Ukrainian military forces’ determination to fight and stressing areas where they require further international assistance.
The Prime Minister expressed his sympathies to those Ukrainian families who have lost loved ones in the conflict, saying that the UK continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine.
He outlined the government’s considerable additional backing, which includes long-range multiple launch rocket systems to target Russian artillery positions that are used to assault Ukrainian communities.
The presidents also talked about diplomatic talks and measures to remove Russia’s crippling ban of Ukraine’s grain exports. They decided to further up collaboration with key allies, particularly G7 leaders, in order to accelerate progress on ending Russia’s unlawful invasion and bolstering Ukraine’s economy.
The Prime Minister ended by expressing his condolences to the Ukrainian national football team for their elimination from World Cup qualifying. In the face of Russian violence, he expressed his respect for the Ukrainian people’s strength and national spirit.
