VRMED, FSEMS college, and Mangaung Fire & Rescue, along with other agencies, reacted to a fire at Dr. Blok secondary school ladies hostel in Heidedal, Bloemfontein, late Sunday afternoon.
VRMED arrived to find the two-story hostel completely engulfed in flames.
Teachers had already fled the dormitory, and Mangaung firefighters responded quickly to put out the fire.
A search of the building was done while a roll call was conducted; thankfully, all 63 students were found.
Three students were sent to the hospital with smoke inhalation, and one guy was taken to the hospital with a medical emergency.
The cause of the fire is unknown, and SAPS and Mangaung fire investigators will look into it.
VRMED would like to appeal to the Bloemfontein community for any assistance, as the female students lost everything in the fire.
VRMED will keep you informed about where you may drop off blankets, clothing, and other supplies that will help the students survive the upcoming chilly days.
