Police Launch Manhunt for Trio of Fake ‘Spiritual Healers’ Who Exploited 73-Year-Old Woman in Newport, South Wales

Recently, a disturbing case unfolded in Newport, South Wales, involving a group of fake ‘spiritual healers’ who exploited a vulnerable pensioner.

These individuals, pretending to offer a ritual for family protection, have left the 73-year-old victim significantly out of pocket, having stolen cash and jewellery from her.

The scammers, who are believed to be of Chinese descent and spoke Cantonese, first met the elderly woman in Newport city centre. They convinced her that a spiritual ritual would safeguard her family.

After gaining her trust, they managed to access her bank account and make off with her valuable possessions.

Police on the Trail

Gwent Police have launched a manhunt for these fraudsters and have released CCTV footage of one of the suspects.

The video captures a woman entering a Sainsbury’s store, carrying a pink bag and wearing a dark jacket. She is seen smiling at the checkout, and the police are hoping this footage will help identify her.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police has asked for public assistance in locating this woman, stating, “We received a report of fraud involving three women who took a large sum of money and jewellery under the pretense of organizing a spiritual ritual.”

The women are described as having short black hair, aged between 30 and 50, and speaking Cantonese.
