Suspected Drunk Driver Flees

Following a collision on Umdloti Beach Road in Waterloo this morning, a man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.

At 06:34 a.m., members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the site. The crash occurred when a white Fiat Palio attempted to overtake a blue Mercedes Benz on a bend, according to the investigation. Following that, the Mercedes Benz crashed with a blue Ford Bantam bakkie. The driver of the Fiat Palio got out of his car and ran towards the bush. He was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol while driving.

There were no injuries recorded.
