VIDEO: RAF Red Arrows Platinum Jubilee flypast from the cockpit

Fact Checked by TDPel News Desk
By Samantha Allen

The RAF Red Arrows make a flyby down The Mall as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee festivities, as seen from the cockpit.

The nine-ship formation is captured from the back seat of one of the jets as the display crew fires off red, white, and blue smoke as the planes approach Buckingham Palace.

The Queen and other members of the Royal Family watched from the balcony as 71 military planes, including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, entertained the audience along the route.

The Red Arrows’ trademark red, white, and blue smoke is created by injecting diesel dyed with a specific dye into the BAE Systems T1 Hawk aircraft’s engine.

The 58th season of the Red Arrows, originally known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, has commenced.

Yesterday’s fly over was one of the few times the team would fly in a nine-ship formation this year. This year, they’ll have seven jets in the air for the most of the competitions.

The Red Arrows will perform at 65 events around the UK this season, including visits to France, Denmark, Ireland, Jersey, and Guernsey.
