Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee on February 6, this year. This year marks 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and the Realms.

Events and initiatives will take place throughout the year to commemorate this historic occasion, culminating in a four-day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5.

The four-day commemoration will include public events, community activities, and national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.

The Queen, who is 96 years old, has reigned for longer than any other monarch in British history, and has become a much-loved and revered figure around the world.

 

Her exceptional reign has seen her travel the world more than any other monarch, making numerous momentous foreign visits.

She has been a major figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during times of enormous social change, known for her sense of responsibility and devotion to a life of service.

Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, they kept a low profile.

Meanwhile, according to the latest rumors, the Queen will be unable to attend Friday’s national service at St Paul’s Cathedral due to mobility concerns and discomfort.
