Mamelodi Sundowns coaching duo of Manqoba Mngqithi and Rhulani Mokwena have, as expected, made the list for the Coach of the Season award.

The pair alongside Steve Komphela again did enough to win the league; their second successive DStv Premiership title in as many seasons.

It was also the Brazilians’ fifth consecutive league trophy, making them a dominant domestic force under both Mngqithi and Mokwena.

SUNDOWNS DUO FACE COMPETITION FROM MADUKA AND TINKLER

Both Mngqithi and Mokwena face competition from two other coaches who did well for their respective clubs in John Maduka and Eric Tinkler.

Maduka was instrumental in Royal AM’s first season in the DStv Premiership – and the KwaZulu-Natal outfit is in with a chance to qualify for continental football.

Royal AM are currently placed third on the log, and they could finish as high as second on the DStv Premiership standings after 30 games.

Tinkler, on the other hand, revived City, especially in the second half of the season as the Mother City-based side went from mid-table up to second on the log.

This despite letting go of a number of their key players, including Abubakar Mobara and Surprise Ralani who left for AmaZulu and Sundowns respectively.
