Al Ahly dropped two points in the race for the league title as they could only afford a 0-0 draw away to National Bank on Wednesday.
Pitso Mosimane fielded his strongest possible starting line-up with the likes of Mohammed El-Shanawy, Mohamed Sherif and Percy Tau all cracking the nod.
And the Al Ahly coach made that decision while also keeping an eye on the CAF Champions League final against Wydad Athletic Club on 30 May.
Nonetheless, while Al Ahly enjoyed keeping the ball and taking shots at goal, they were not able to break down the resilient National Bank defence.

AL AHLY NOW SEVEN POINTS OFF THE PACE
The goalless draw saw Al Ahly fall seven points behind log leaders Zamalek who played four more games compared to their rivals.
Al Ahly are on 34 points from 15 league games while defending champions Zamalek are on 41 points after having played 19 games.
Fagrie Lakay’s Pyramids are currently second on the standings with 39 points from the 18 league games they have played so far.
