A 25-year-old man appeared before the Frankfort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 18 May, a day after his arrest for allegedly stabbing and assaulting his stepfather.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Malebo Khosana said the incident played out in Phomolong Section, Frankfort on Tuesday morning.

“It is alleged by the 42-year-old victim that he was stabbed multiple times during a domestic dispute with his stepson,” said Khosana.

Mpho Khoase’s mother reportedly called the neighbours and the victim and accused were eventually separated.

The stepfather was rushed to a local hospital. He pressed charges against Khoase after being discharged.

Khoase was arrested and charged with attempted murder on the same day. He was remanded in custody in court on Wednesday.

The matter was postponed to Tuesday, 24 May for further investigation, said the police spokesperson.
