A-Reece is undeniably one of the most talented rappers in the country. The award-winning rapper set tongues wagging on Twitter on Wednesday 11 May after claiming he was the “best rapper in Africa”. The statement had SA hip-hop fans weighing in on A-Reece’s statement while new wave rapper LucasRaps challenged the Hibachi rapper’s bars.
IS A-REECE THE BEST RAPPER IN AFRICA?
A-Reece has had a spectacular year so far. The star rapper released a new mixtape titled The Burning Tree in celebration of “4/20” which is also considered “World Weed Day”.
The nine-track project features the likes of 25K, Jay Jody, Imp Tha Don and SA hip-hop veteran, Maggz.
Following an already successful 2022, A-Reece confidently took to Twitter on 11 May writing: “I’m the best rapper in Africa.”
SA HIP-HOP FANS WEIGH IN
Reacting to A-Reece’s tweet, many SA hip-hop fans agreed with the star rapper while others had an opinion about which of their favourite hip-hop stars are the “best rappers in Africa”.
“Let’s be real…The amount of buzz this one tweet caused is literal proof he’s right. He is the best rapper in Africa!” wrote one tweep.
“Not even top three. But ayy man whatever makes you sleep at night,” wrote another tweep.
“Almost forgot Nasty C is no longer categorised an African rapper.”

Durban-born rapper LucasRaps, who rose to fame after featuring on Blxckie’s hit single Big Time Shlappa, challenged A-Reece with a diss track on his own song!
LucasRaps rapped over the late Riky Rick’s Pick You Up beat which featured A-Reece.
“Toe to toe let’s go get it gorilla. I’m the only little n*gga going toe to toe with my lyrics,” says LucasRaps in the track.
