Kaizer Chiefs latest: Surely end of the road for Dumisani Zuma?

And that’s because he’s suspended until further notice with a pending disciplinary hearing confirmed by Chiefs after he ‘transgressed the club’s code of ethics’.

Zuma had just returned from a 10-month injury lay-off coupled with his first suspension by the club over his arrest for an alleged drunk and driving charge.

This was in November 2021, and while Zuma looked set to leave Chiefs during the January transfer window, the club changed its mind by keeping him.

However, he failed to grab that ‘second chance’ with both hands as he reported for duty smelling of alcohol with hangover from a night out with friends until Sunday morning.

And this didn’t sit well with the Chiefs bosses who felt Zuma had no respect for the badge, his teammates and the management as a whole.

WHY DUMISANI ZUMA MAY NOT COME BACK FROM THE RECENT KAIZER CHIEFS SUSPENSION

Zuma may be a fan-favourite but his actions off the pitch are not of a player that is hyped to reach his full potential in the famous gold and black colours.

The fact that he doesn’t take care of his body coupled with the long-term injuries he has suffered since his arrival may be enough for Chiefs to let him go.

In fact, Chiefs needed a reason to offload Zuma in January but the backlash and noise from the fans was just too much at the time.

Some felt Zuma needed a second chance, claiming that Chiefs should in fact help the midfielder become a better person.

Amakhosi used their resources to rehabilitate Zuma after hauling him before the disciplinary committee, and that, surely, didn’t help.

He hasn’t done much in terms of his contribution on the pitch this season – Zuma managed just two appearances and a single goal.

And with Chiefs desperate to rebuild the team, they need committed players who will give everything on the pitch to ensure the team achieves its objectives.

Zuma is certainly not that player – he appears to be more obsessed about his lifestyle than what brought him this far in his career.

For that reason, and perhaps many, this could surely be the end of road for the 28-year-old former Bloemfontein Celtic man at Chiefs.

In addition, Zwane’s comments about discipline and what is expected of Chiefs players may have all but confirmed Zuma’s fate.
