Man wins Guinness World Record working in the same job for 84 years!

For many people across the world, moving on from their place of work is part of learning new things and finding growth. One man, Walter Othman, however, never found the need to move on and in fact, stayed at the same company for longer than anyone stayed at any company in the world.

He has since won a Guinness World Record for the small yet interesting achievement.

Old man wins record for staying at same company for 84 years

Most people can’t imagine staying in the same place for more than a few years this is why it’s such a wonder how Walter Othman, a 100-year-old Brazilian man managed to say at his workplace for a whopping 84 years.

Othman, who recently celebrated his birthday, was also entered into the Guinness Book of World Records and confirmed that he is the only person in the world to have stayed at one job for that many years.

According to reports, Othman started out in the sales department at a textile company known as Industrias Renaux SA in Santa Catarina, Brazil when he was only 15 but soon worked his way up to sales manager.

Othman, who is described as someone who pays close attention to detail and has a sharp memory, secured the job because he speaks fluent German.

Why Walter Othman stayed

The elderly man says that he stayed for so long because he loves having a sense of purpose, commitment and routine.

Othman also said that one of the most significant parts of the job is to always be ahead of trends and be able to adapt to different changes.

He marked his 100th birthday on April 19, 2022, with members of his staff and other coworkers.
