Kolisi and Etzebeth are known as two of the closest friends in world rugby, having played plenty of rugby from their days at the Stormers through to the Springboks.

The two forwards will also be reunited at the Sharks when Etzebeth makes the move to Durban later this year on a long-term contract with the coastal franchise.

In a fascinating and wide-ranging podcast, Kolisi has shared a comical anecdote about how tough it is to train against and tackle Etzebeth.

You can watch the clip below with Kolisi:

Recently, Kolisi was another big winner at the 15th SA Sport Awards. First he accepted the award on behalf of the SA Rugby Union for Federation of the Year, before he was named the People’s Choice Sports Star Of The Year, a result of the public vote.

THE BOK CAPTAIN MADE A ROUSING ACCEPTANCE SPEECH

Kolisi, who lifted the Webb Ellis Cup as Springbok captain at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, made a rousing acceptance speech.

“It’s always awkward getting an individual award when playing a team sport, but thank you to all my coaches and teammates and to all who support me. Now, to all the men: Let’s talk about gender equality in sport. We (men) get all the money, but the women work has hard as we do. If we don’t speak up about it nothing will change. We (men) must use our platform to speak up for women.”

Earlier he had said, when receiving the National Federation award: “We know what rugby has meant for SA and we do our best for the country. We should be proud of the diversity in our team.”
