According to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), agriculture has altered 75 percent of the world’s land, with 23 percent of the land no longer productive.
This lack of production, according to the FAO, is due to desertification, land degradation, and drought, which have impacted millions of people and their livelihoods around the world.
“We have the tools to repair degraded land and mitigate drought and desertification hazards.”
“FAO assists countries in proactively managing risks in order to protect livelihoods from disasters and the effects of climate change.
“By working together, we can enhance the livelihoods of over 1.3 billion people and restore the productivity of over 2 billion hectares of damaged land,” it stated.
