Sabina Chege, a Murang’a Woman Representative, has stated that she will not run for re-election in August.

Chege also announced on Saturday that she will not run for office in Murang’a County.

“Finally, the Holy Spirit has spoken, and I will not be vying for any elected position in Murang’a County,” Chege wrote on social media.

“In Azimio La Umoja Council, I will concentrate on national politics,” she said.

Chege is one of 11 members of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s powerful Azimio Council, which is chaired by him.

The first-term congressman has been said to be interested in the Murang’a governorship.

Chege has been outspoken in his support for the Azimio’s presidential candidate, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Chege is the Chair of the National Assembly’s Health Committee in Parliament.

She’s also chaired the Departmental Committee on Education Research and Technology in the past.

She’s a member of the Liaison Committee as well.
