The Glamour Boys further confirmed that club legend Zwane will take charge as the interim coach until the end of the season, with Dillon Sheppard his assistant.
Meanwhile, Khanye believes that Zwane does not have the required coaching experience to take the full-time head coach role next season.
“In my opinion, Arthur can’t coach Kaizer Chiefs next season,” Khanye told iDiskiTimes reporter David Kappel.
“Now as an interim coach it’s good but you need a lot of experience in that seat.
“For now, Arthur can build the confidence. He understands a lot of players that played with him at the youth ranks.
“He’s a coach who played for the club for many, many years and he understands the culture of the club.
“He needs to build the confidence of the players now. My advice to him; can he put confidence in those players, can he make those players understand that they’re good players. But build for next season,” the former winger added.
If not Zwane then who? According to the former ball wizard who was nicknamed Aghahowa for his backflip goal celebrations, the likes of Johnson should be considered.
“I will be happy if I can see Cavin Johnson there. Cavin Johnson with Eric Tinkler or Cavin Johnson with Dan Maselesa,” Khanye added.
“Pitso [Mosimane] would be the right person because I know he would reshuffle that team.
“It’s good that they appointed Kaizer Jr, a football person, very humble person, I played with him. He understands the game. The way he speaks, tells a lot.
“Back to the coach – Chiefs need a coach that the players believe in. A coach that will take Njabulo Ngcobo to centre-back, where he won Defender of the Season last year.
“A coach that will make those youngsters understand that they are no longer youngsters, they are playing for a big team. A coach that will bring back the culture,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Zwane and Sheppard have seven Premier Soccer League games to convince the Motuang’s they have to the quality to take the hot seat full-time next season and beyond.
