INEC Fails to Present Witness: Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Adjourns Hearing

…By Roland Peterson for TDPel Media. Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has reacted to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) failure to present its witness before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

INEC, the first respondent in the petition filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP), was scheduled to open its defense on Monday but was unable to do so due to the absence of its first witness.

The court, upon hearing the explanation from INEC’s lawyer, Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN), granted an adjournment until Tuesday, 4th July, 2023.

Mockery of INEC’s ‘Technical Glitches’

Kenneth Okonkwo expressed his lack of surprise at INEC’s inability to present witnesses before the tribunal, mocking the electoral body for its alleged ‘technical glitches.’

He further lamented the wastage of fuel incurred by those who had traveled to the court premises for the case.

Taking to his Twitter account, Okonkwo criticized INEC and the current APC government for the rising cost of fuel that has become unaffordable for ordinary Nigerians like himself.

He highlighted the adjournment of the petition to the following day, July 4th, 2023.

Atiku Abubakar and PDP’s Petition to Continue

The court was set to reconvene at 2 pm for the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
