…By Larry John for TDPel Media. Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has refuted reports claiming that he was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and stated that he would willingly comply with any such invitation.

Rumors had circulated suggesting that Malami had fled the country to avoid arrest and investigation following the suspension of EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bawa’s suspension had sparked controversy regarding Malami’s performance, as the former Minister had strongly advocated for the suspension of the anti-corruption agency boss.
According to a source within the EFCC, the agency was interested in questioning Malami regarding the alleged loss of over $2.4 billion in revenue from the illegal sale of 48 million barrels of crude oil export in 2015.
This investigation would encompass all crude oil exports and sales conducted by Nigeria from 2014 up to the present.
The source further revealed that while the former Minister has been formally invited, there are other matters that Malami would need to address when he eventually attends the invitation.
However, in an exclusive interview, Malami promptly denied having received any invitation from the EFCC.

He clarified, “I have not received an invitation from the EFCC or any other anti-corruption agency in Nigeria.
I am currently in Nigeria and will be attending a wedding Fatiha scheduled for tomorrow at Sheikh Isiyaka Rabi’u Mosque in Kano.”
Malami emphasized that he has no intention of leaving Nigeria and assured that he would willingly comply with any invitation extended to him by any government agency.
He expressed his unwavering belief in the Nigerian project, stating, “I will make myself available to Nigeria and its institutions whenever required.”
