…By Larry John for TDPel Media. Veteran DJ Tony Blackburn, aged 80, has been discharged from Wellington Hospital in London following a three-week stay due to a chest infection.
Blackburn has been absent from his BBC Radio 2 programme as he received treatment in the hospital.
Blackburn expressed his gratitude to the doctors and nurses who cared for him on Twitter.
However, he added that he would need outpatient care, including regular injections.
Blackburn stated that he would receive daily injections for a few days from a nearby hospital while he recuperates at home.
He also expressed his eagerness to return to work, thanking his friends and fans for their well-wishes.
Blackburn, who was awarded the radio pioneer award at the Audio and Radio Industry Awards (Arias) earlier this week, was unable to attend the ceremony due to his illness.

Additionally, he was compelled to postpone his Sounds Of The 60s live tour after discovering that he required additional treatment.
