The Nelson Mandela Foundation has promised to assist flood victims in KwaZulu-Natal. The floods have been labeled a provincial catastrophe in that area.

Over 395 people have died as a result of severe flooding in the area this week.

Thousands more have been harmed as a result of the disaster.

The South African Weather Service has issued yet another warning about possible disruptive rainfall in some parts of KZN, which could result in localized floods.

Sello Hatang, the Chief Executive of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, has appealed to all South Africans to help flood victims in any manner they can..

“The team has arrived. The IT labs team has been visiting with traditional leaders to learn about the most pressing issues and to assist where they can. We will be in Durban from the Imbumba Foundation in KZN, as well as the Old Mutual Foundation and the Collen Mashawane Foundation — all four foundations will be present. To get there, we’re starting with the hardest-hit areas. The demand is so great that we can’t manage it with just the four foundations, which is why we’re urging South Africans to live up to this year’s Mandela Day theme. Make the best of what you’ve got. And in this instance, we should all focus our efforts on the province of KwaZulu-Natal.”
