StarLux founder to lead regional carrier UNI Air as chairman

Taipei, April 14 (CNA) Taiwan-based StarLux Airlines founder Chang Kuo-wei (張國煒) was elected chairman of regional carrier UNI Air at a provisional board meeting Thursday morning.

StarLux spokesman Nieh Kuo-wei (聶國維) told reporters outside the meeting that Chang would lead UNI Air as it develops its domestic air routes and expands into the Asia-Pacific market.

Chang will remain as chairman of StarLux and replaces Solomon Lin (林志忠), who recently resigned from his position at the EVA Airways-invested UNI Air.

Chang became UNI Air chairman on Thursday after Picea Investment Management Limited, one of the major shareholders of UNI Air, appointed him to the company’s board, making him eligible for election.

The new UNI Air chairman, son of Evergreen Group founder Chang Jung-fa (張榮發), led EVA Air from 2013 to 2019 before being ousted in a boardroom battle following the death of his father.
