Nigeria Equities market open with 0.51% gain

Equities trading on the first day of the week ended with gains as the benchmark index appreciated by 0.51 per cent to close at 46,867.95 points being 236.49 points higher than 46,631.46 points at the close of trade on Friday last week.

Similarly, the market capitalisation gained N127 billion to close at N25,266 trillion as against N25,139 trillion on Friday.

A total of 224.64 million shares with market value of N3.82 billion were traded in 5,946 deals on Monday.

The market sentiment for the day was positive as the market closed with 32 gainers and 13 losers.

Top on the gainer’s list for the day was Nigerian Aviation Handling Company which gained N0.50k to close at N5.50k followed by UAC of Nigeria which gained N1.00 to close at N11.10k and Meyer with N0.11k gain and a closing price of N1.24k.

On the other hand, Academy Press came out last with a loss of N0.17k and a closing price of N1.60k and it was followed by Mutual Benefits Assurance which lost N0.02k to close at N0.24k and Japaul Gold and Ventures lost N0.02k to close at N0.32k.

Guaranty Trust Holding recorded the highest volume of 43.2 million shares followed by Zenith Bank with 31.1 million shares.
