Council President Debora Juarez (District 5 – North Seattle) celebrated today’s Senate confirmation of Judge Kentaji Brown Jackson to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, releasing the following statement:

Today I felt like that twelve-year-old girl thinking Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm would be president, expect this time it was real. Watching Vice President Kamala Harris, a history-maker herself, presiding over the confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to become a member of the U.S. Supreme Court has changed my world. My North Star just got brighter. I felt hope in my heart and prayers on my breath. We can be good. Today, we are good. I love my country.”
