Google removes apps that were stealing data from millions of devices

Weather apps, highway radar apps, QR-code scanner apps, and many more apps with a code for gathering user data were discovered by researchers to be among these programs. The following categories of information have been gathered: the user’s location, email address, phone number, and so on.

The perpetrator is allegedly Measurement Systems, a corporation that does cyber-intelligence for US national-security organizations. All of the allegations are denied by the firm.

Measurement Systems, according to the researchers, paid developers to include their software, which was used to collect user data. This program has been downloaded and installed on at least 60 million devices.
