NUM, Amcu affiliated members still on strike at Sibanye-Stillwater

Members affiliated to the National Union of Metal Workers (NUM) and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) are still on strike at Sibanye-Stillwater.

The strike, which has entered its fourth week has halted operations at one of the country’s largest metal producers.

NUM Spokesperson, Livhuwani Mammburu says the Sibanye strike is also still ongoing in the coal sector and members are picketing in different areas across the country.

NUM says it is in the process of organising a meeting with the Company’s CEO.

Unions are demanding R1000 wage increase per month for underground miners.

“The Sibanye-Stillwater strike in the coal sector is still ongoing and our members are picketing in different areas. We want to organise a meeting with the compony CEO to see how we can resolve the strike,” explains Mammburu.
