The Competition Bureau has published its 2022-2023 Annual Plan: Competition, recovery and growth.

Competitive markets are needed now more than ever to deliver low prices, more choice and increased innovation for Canadians. The Annual Plan outlines the Bureau’s priorities for the coming year as it focuses its enforcement and promotion efforts in areas that will have the biggest impact on Canadians during this period of recovery and growth.

These priorities include:

  • targeting ongoing issues linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as anti-competitive conduct related to supply chain issues and deceptive claims about support benefits;
  • focusing enforcement on sectors of the economy that are vital to Canada’s long-term economic well-being, such as digital services, health, infrastructure, telecommunications and natural resources; and
  • supporting the Government of Canada’s review and update of the Competition Act, and continuing to encourage pro-competitive laws, regulations and policies at all levels of government in Canada.

In keeping with the Bureau’s 2020-2024 Strategic Vision, this focus will advance the Bureau’s goal of becoming a  world-leading competition agency that is at the forefront of the digital economy and champions a culture of competition for Canadians.
