The Federal Government, in accordance with the National Sports Federation’s Code of Governance, dissolved the Para Sports Federation of Nigeria’s Seven Boards following its four-year term duration (2018–2022).

Mr. Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth and Sports, addressed the Board members at a ceremony held today at the Conference Room of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abuja, and thanked them for their efforts to the development of the game in Nigeria.
“It will be recorded that your efforts contributed to the identification and subsequent establishment of a Department in the Ministry in charge of Para Sports activities in Nigeria,” Dare added.
The Minister, who was represented by Alh. Ismaila Abubakar, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, noted that the Para Sports Federations’ Board, which was established in 2018, will expire in 2022, in accordance with the four-year term tenure of Boards of Sports Federations.

He directed the Secretaries General of the dissolved Boards to take immediate control of the Federation’s business while new Boards were elected and installed.
Dare also assured them that the positive working relationship they had with the Ministry during their time in office would only grow stronger in the future, particularly as a result of the pet projects they would be leaving behind, and asked for more collaboration in their future relationship with the Ministry.
Amputee Football, Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting, Para Soccer, Deaf Sports, Para Swimming, and Wheel Chair Basketball are among the seven dissolved boards, according to the Minister.
