Sudanese media delegation visits SGMB

Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, reaffirmed the SGMB’s keenness to strengthen relations with international media institutions and build bridges of communication between Sharjah and Arab and global media in accordance with the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

This was stated during his meeting with a delegation of newspaper editors from Sudan at the Al Majaz Amphitheatre Thursday, in the presence of Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the SGMB, and other senior officials of various departments.

The Sudanese media delegation is visiting Sharjah as part of the efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise and experience in various media fields and activities and programmes.

Speaking on the occasion, Allay stressed the depth of the historical and close fraternal relations linking the Emirate of Sharjah with Sudan. He welcomed the expansion of cooperation with the Sudanese media and the consolidation of prospects for joint cooperation between the two sides to serve the media system and contribute to exchanging knowledge and experiences.

The Sudanese media delegation commended the efforts of the Ruler of Sharjah, reaffirming Sudan’s support for strong relations between the two countries and strengthening their cooperation in all areas, including academic and cultural fields. On this occasion, the Sudanese delegation recalled the construction of Sharjah Hall at the University of Khartoum, opened in February 1986 and renovated under the directives of the Ruler of Sharjah in 2021.

The SGMB Director-General said that Sharjah attaches great importance to the media sector for its key role in development and progress. He referred to the various programmes and initiatives of the SGMB in highlighting Sharjah’s cultural project and simulating the qualitative leaps achieved by the Emirate in various sectors, which has been extensively reported around the world by international media.

Allay briefed the Sudanese delegation on the role, responsibilities and various key initiatives of the SGMB, including the Smart Media Platform, the Job Shadowing Programme, the bilingual news website Sharjah 24. He also briefed them on flagship events such as the International Government Communication Forum, Sharjah Government Communication Award, Xposure International Photography Festival and other events and activities organised by the Bureau throughout the year as part of its objectives representing the vision and policies of the emirate.

During their tour of the Al Majaz Amphitheatre, the Sudanese media delegation expressed their profound admiration for it, built in the Roman colosseum style with world-class audio-visual facilities and capabilities.
